Lookout Towers and Vistas

The lookout tower from the church rewards your ascent of 170 stairs with a beautiful view of the town of Cheb. There is an admission fee. You will ascend a comfortable stairwell to the area of the bell tower (133 stairs), from where a spiral staircase opens into a steep, final ascent (37 stairs) leading to the area of the lookout.
Waldsassen – Germany. In the Baroque central building, constructed in 1685 – 1689 according to the plans of George Dientzenhofer, the Holy Trinity is depicted as an architectural symbol. The number three dominates in all components. Outside, the symbol of the Trinity is found in the three towers with the onion dome and in the three rooftop riding statues.
Bad Brambach - Saxony This wooden lookout tower has a height of 19 metres and stands on the high mountain of the same name. It was constructed by builder Ernst Schüller according to the designs of architect Gustav Zimmermann. It ceremoniously opened on 29 November 1931. 11. 1931. Since 1968, the tower has been closed to visitors. The site offers a panoramic view.
This stone lookout tower was, along with the restaurant, built on the site of a previous lookout tower according to the designs of Rudolf Melichar in 1905. In the 1990s, the new owner had the buildings reconstructed into a luxurious hotel, currently, however, it is, along with the lookout tower, closed to the public.
Andělská Hill is a basalt mountain located near the village of Andělská Hora in Karlovy Vary District. The mountain has an altitude of 717 metres, and the Andělská Hora castle ruins are found on top of it. In terms of geomorphology, it is located in the region of the Karlovy Vary Highlands, the Slavkovský Forest mesoregion, the Hornoslavkovská Highlands microregion, the Loketská Highlands microdistrict, and the Stanovická Highlands subdistrict.
Karlovy Vary This Neo-Gothic building of the former restaurant and adjacent lookout tower opened in 1889. For many years, the lookout tower was a sought-out destination of hikers and spa guests, however, it was shut down during the 1990s. After falling into disrepair for a lengthy period, reconstruction work was completed in the spring of 2019, and the vista was opened to the public.
This brick construction with a covered wooden gallery was built in 1912 – 1914. In the past, it changed names several times, known as, for instance, the Hans Kudlich Lookout Tower or Beneš Lookout Tower. The tower has a height of 40 metres. After conquering 150 stairs or using the lift, you will see a view of the town of Karlovy Vary, the Ore Mountains with Mt Klínovec, the Doupovské Mountains, or the Slavkovský Forest. A funicular leads up to the lookout tower, starting from behind Hotel Pupp at the station at Jelení skok (Deer Jump). Just beyond the lookout tower, you can buy refreshments in the restaurant, and 50 metres beyond the restaurant, there is a mini zoo.
This octagonal masoned lookout tower was built in 1883-84 as the fifth building in a row on this site. During the years, the building served the army along with the neighbouring chalet, and it gradually fell into disrepair. However, in 2009, the buildings changed owners, and were gradually thoroughly reconstructed. The lookout tower reopened in 2013. After ascending 75 stairs to a height of 14 metres, you will see a panoramic view far away to the Lusatian Mountains and Doupovské Mountains, the Czech Central Mountains, or the Bohemian Forest.
This new wooden lookout tower, 14 metres high, has been standing on Hard since April 2001. There is a breath-taking view of Sokolov and its surroundings from the glazed gallery. The lookout tower is a replica of the former tower that reigned over Hard from 1907 to the 1930s. A more stable stone tower replaced it in 1933, which was also conceived of as a monument to the fallen of WWI. This met its sad fate in the 1940s.
