Length of route: 5,4 km
From the hiking trail guidepost in front of the information centre on the square, head out on the red hiking trail in the direction leading downhill via Kamenná Street.
At the intersection by the Church of St Bartholomew, turn left onto Křižovnická Street. After about 150 metres, a view of Cheb Castle opens on the left. Continue straight all the way to Písek Gate, which was part of the city walls. Beyond it, cross the wooden bridge and continue along the riverbank around Vávra Footbridge until you reach the levee of the Skalka Water Reservoir. Continue through the maintained grounds with the sightseeing bridge, around the children’s labyrinth all the way to the sightseeing gazebo in the Empire Style, from where you will see the reservoir. Further on, the trail leads you to the building of the former farm that is today the Stein Resort. On the right in the grass is a partially overgrown conciliation cross. At this point, you will have walked 3.5 km. At the intersection behind the farm, turn right and continue up the hill. Cross the bridge over the town ring road and head toward the village of Komorní Dvůr. In between the modern buildings on the intersection in front of Komorní hůrka, turn left and after 100 metres, you will reach the Information Centre. Not far from it is another conciliation cross. The educational trail leading to the entrance of the adit with the ornamental portal and the monumental plaque commemorating the scientific activities of J.W. Goethe begins near the Information Centre.
On your way back, you can get to Františkovy Lázně by following the red trail, from where you can take the bus, or you can take the bus from the stop at the intersection with the road to Libá.
