Kynžvart Chateau

This formerly Renaissance building dating to the 16th century was rebuilt and expanded in the Baroque style in the years 1681 – 1691, resulting in a three-wing, storied chateau. In 1820 – 1833, it was reconstructed as a Classicist residence of the villa type, and it served the needs of Chancellor Metternich, who gathered his many collections of products of nature, artistic items, and curiosities. The last executioner of Cheb, Huss, was also one of the administrators of the collections.
