Loket Town and Castle

This Gothic castle, whose current appearance dates to the period of Wenceslas IV, was established already in the 2nd half of the 12th century in the Romanesque style. A trivial fact is that Charles IV was imprisoned here as a three-year-old boy. After being reconstructed at the beginning of the 19th century, the castle served as a jail. The exhibition includes, e.g.: The Landeshauptmann House with the archaeology exhibit, the Gothic masonry, the remnants of the Renaissance black kitchen, the East Wing with the Great Hall and the remnants of the chapel, the Margraviate House with the porcelain exhibit, the dungeon and the rotunda dating to the 12th century. There is also an exhibit of historical cold weapons and firearms.

Bečov nad Teplou Chateau

The castle and chateau at Bečov is a unique complex of historical buildings, of which the most significant is the Gothic castle, the Renaissance palace, and the Baroque chateau. Since 2002, a unique chasse – the Reliquary of St Maurus – has been on display here, which is, along with the Czech Crown Jewels, the most valuable goldsmith’s historical artefact in the country.
