Excursion via the Stronghold at Pomezná to the Castle in Libá

The Pomezná Stronghold is the ruins of a stronghold, originally a castle dating to the 14th century. It is privately owned, and the owner is gradually carrying out repair and restoration work on it. The castle and chateau at Libá, the first mention of which dates to 1264. 1264. The original castle was reconstructed into a Rococo chateau in the shape of an irregular quadrangle. Since 1991, it is privately owned, but parts of the castle and chateau are accessible to the public.
Length of route: 15,6 km
Part of the route from the square in Cheb is the same as in Excursion No. 1 to Komorní hůrka. In front of Komorní hůrka, turn left and continue the red hiking trail through Klest, Cetnov, and towards Bříza. At the intersection to Bříza, however, head right. After eight kilometres from the beginning of the excursion, the view of the Pomezná Stronghold will open us before us. Continue the red trail for another 4.2 km to the village of Libá, going around Kladivo fishpond. From a distance, you can already see Liebenstein Castle towering over the village. From Libá, there is the option of crossing the border crossing for pedestrians, and on the German side, you can visit Hohenberg an der Eger Caste, which you can reach by going around the excellent mineral spring, Carolinenquelle, a walk that is 5 km from Libá.
