Pachelbel House

Named after the owner and mayor of Cheb during the Thirty Years’ War.

It was made famous primarily by the fact that on 25 February 1634, Albrecht von Wallenstein was assassinated here. Presently, the Cheb Museum is in the building.

Trivia:

Thanks to its collections, Cheb Museum ranks among the largest museums of the Karlovy Vary Region. It was established in 1873 but was not made publicly accessible until a year later.

Historical Treasures

Among the most valuable exhibits, we find the Cheb antependium, serving to decorate the front side of the altar stone as well as the oldest preserved bell in the Czech Republic.

Wallensteiniana

The museum owns the most extensive collection of personal items belonging to Albrecht von Wallenstein, e.g., Wallenstein’s rapier, his saddles, a lace collar, or his riding boots. You can also see the murder weapon that was used by Walter Deveroux to stab the duke. The taxidermy mount of Wallenstein’s most beloved horse, which was killed in the battle of Lützen in 1632, can also be admired.
