- DISCOVER: CHEB CASTLE - An Alchemist's Lab
- Around 1450, the alchemist Zikmund Wann worked at Cheb Castle. Just like other alchemists, primarily known during the era of Rudolph II, this alchemist from Cheb mixed various potions, attempted to create gold, the philosopher’s stone, the elixir of youth, and told fortunes using a crystal ball. According to one of the maintained legends, he was also able to depict pure joy, and thus inspire those who were respected and rich in terms of assets, yet too mentally poor to search for it. You can peek into his laboratory in the castle chapel of St Erhard and Ursula, if you are able to fit in the narrow spiral staircase leading from the first storey of the chapel.

- MAKE A SPLASH: WATER ACTIVITIES IN KRAJINKA
- In the city, children do not have many opportunities to freely enjoy the element of water, yet water remains so fascinating to them. Playing with water is irresistible to children and offers joy, fun, and experience. A rare place where you can be both in the city as well as in nature close to water, is the section of the park grounds located under Cheb Castle. Need we say more than fun in the water? Children can try diverse equipment propelled by water, or just wade. A pump, a system of troughs with sluice-gates, a marine propeller, a water wheel, and a wading pool for the youngest visitors are at your disposal.

- MOVE: HIGH-ROPES CENTRE
- The high-ropes centre in the sports section of the Krajinka Sports and Recreational Grounds in Cheb offer a large and high circuit 250 metres in length, but also a smaller circuit with continuous belaying and a special children’s section, where children can test their skills a half-metre above ground. Rope obstacles are also available to the youngest of visitors. Here, you will find the Big Swing, a gigantic swing, as well as the Power Fan machine, which allows you to experience a free fall.

- LOOK AROUND: ČERNÁ (BLACK) TOWER
- Černá věž (Black Tower) will surely catch your interest even before you enter the castle. It received its moniker thanks to the characteristic hue of the volcanic rock that was used as the construction material of the tower. Tuff, or rock formed from volcanic ash, was transported for the tower construction from nearby Komorní hůrka, the youngest volcano in the Czech massif. If you decide to visit the Black Tower, which we highly recommend, you can expect 108 stairs. Your strenuous ascent will be rewarded by the beautiful view of Cheb’s historic quarter. The view from Černá Věž at Cheb Castle will satisfy the demands of every visitor. A binocular tower viewer is also available.

- SEARCH: THE LITTLE STATUES ON CHEB BUILDINGS
- “Who else would sing in Slaughterhouse Street than...? Humour should not be absent in art.” The Singing Butcher, David and Goliath, or the Little Girl and Plush Animal are statues to be found in the recesses and niches of historic Cheb buildings. These small statues are part of the Cheb Niches project. Of course, a tour of the niches cannot be held without taking a walk, allowing you to also discover much of the historic centre of Cheb. The works found in the niches will not amaze you with their dimensions but should catch your attention with their frequently rather original interpretation. So, while tilting your heads back to see the niches that are filled once again, keep in mind that you are seeing the best that Czech artists contribute in order to beautify Cheb’s streets and squares.
