{"id":16363,"date":"2022-06-07T12:14:34","date_gmt":"2022-06-07T10:14:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tic.cheb.cz\/the-new-town-hall\/"},"modified":"2022-06-07T12:14:34","modified_gmt":"2022-06-07T10:14:34","slug":"the-new-town-hall","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/tic.cheb.cz\/en\/the-new-town-hall\/","title":{"rendered":"The New Town Hall"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>          <span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: medium;\">The formerly Gothic Town Hall, although it was expanded by the southern neighbouring burgher house in the mid-14th century, became too crowded, small, and not ceremonial enough for the growing municipal administration.<\/p>\n<p>Therefore, in 1721 and 1722, the building of the new Baroque Town Hall was designed by constructor Giovanni Batista Alliprandi hailing from Verona, who also worked in Prague and contributed to the construction of the city bulwarks there.<\/p>\n<p>In the years 1723 to 1728, the first right wing was built on the lot where two buildings purchased by the town hall stood.<\/p>\n<p>The construction work was led by the constructors of Cheb Fort, Angelus Pfeffer and Johann Christoph Faber.<\/p>\n<p>However, the construction project was not finished due to a lack of funds, and the old town hall was still used.<\/p>\n<p>In 1805, the Gothic tower of this old town hall protruding to the square was demolished, and in 1850, the municipal administration was permanently moved to the Municipal House in the lower part of the square.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The formerly Gothic Town Hall, although it was expanded by the southern neighbouring burgher house in the mid-14th century, became too crowded, small, and not ceremonial enough for the growing municipal administration.
