Sie befindet sich in unmittelbarer N\u00e4he des B\u00e4derdreiecks, bestehend aus den Kurorten Franti\u0161kovy L\u00e1zn\u011b (Franzensbad), Mari\u00e1nsk\u00e9 L\u00e1zn\u011b (Marienbad) und Karlovy Vary (Karlsbad).<br \/>\nCheb war bereits im Mittelalter ein bedeutender Verkehrsknoten, die Stadt lag an der wichtigen k\u00f6niglichen Handelsstra\u00dfe von N\u00fcrnberg nach Prag. Durch Cheb verl\u00e4uft ferner der wichtige Eisenbahnkorridor, der von Ostrava nach Deutschland f\u00fchrt.<br \/>\nDen Status eines st\u00e4dtischen Denkmalschutzgebietes erlangte Cheb im Jahre 1981. Eines der wichtigsten Symbole der Egerer Architektur ist ein aus dem 13. Jahrhundert stammendes Ensemble von elf Kaufmannsh\u00e4usern namens \u0160pal\u00ed\u010dek (St\u00f6ckl). W\u00e4hrend des Zweiten Weltkrieges errichteten die Deutschen unweit des Flugplatzes eine Fabrik zur Herstellung von Kampfflugzeugen. Nach der Bombardierung dieser Fabrik im Jahre 1945 durch amerikanische Fliegerverb\u00e4nde geriet der Flugplatz in Vergessenheit, wobei er heute sportlichen Zwecken dient. In den letzten Jahren findet hier der Flugtag mit einem vielf\u00e4ltigen Programm statt. <\/p>\n<p>Die durchschnittliche Meeresh\u00f6he bewegt sich um 470 m \u00fc. M.
